Frequently asked questions
Do I need a chimney or flue?
No. Bioethanol fireplaces burn without a chimney or flue and need no electrical connection. They do need a well-ventilated room, because any flame uses oxygen and produces water vapour and carbon dioxide.
Can a bioethanol fireplace heat my room?
It is a supplementary heat source, not a replacement for your central heating. Our models are rated at around 2 kW (see each product page for the manufacturer’s figure).
How long does a litre of fuel last?
About 1–3 hours per litre on most models, depending on flame size and burner. Smaller models such as Sunset Garden Mini can burn longer per litre.
Is installation difficult?
Wall-mounted models arrive with a mounting kit and typically take under 30 minutes to hang, excluding any building work. Freestanding models need no installation at all.
Is delivery really free?
Yes – delivery to the Republic of Ireland is included in the price of every fireplace. Accessories ship free on orders over €200.
What fuel do I use?
Use bioethanol fuel designed for fireplaces. Never use petrol, white spirit, lamp oil or methylated spirits. Bioethanol is sold separately; always follow the fuel manufacturer’s instructions and store it safely, out of the reach of children.
How do I refuel safely?
Always let the burner cool completely and make sure the flame is fully out before refilling. Never pour fuel onto a burning or hot burner. The manufacturer recommends pouring fuel into a smaller container first and dosing from that into the fireplace, and using the funnel supplied.
How do I put the flame out?
Use the snuffer tool supplied with your fireplace to close the burner. Do not leave a lit fireplace unattended.
How far must it be from flammable materials?
The manufacturer specifies at least 50 cm from flammable materials. On walls that are not non-combustible (for example plasterboard or wooden slats), the manufacturer recommends a thermal insulation mat.
Can I use it outdoors?
Models in our Outdoor range are designed for patios, terraces and balconies. Never use a bioethanol fireplace in a closed, unventilated space.
Does it smell or make smoke?
The manufacturer describes the flame as odourless and smoke-free, with no ash or soot to clean. Scented fuels are a separate product and are not sold in our shop yet.
Which countries do you deliver to?
We currently deliver to the Republic of Ireland only. We do not yet ship to Northern Ireland or Great Britain.
